RIP Ultimate Warrior June 16, 1959 – April 8, 2014

You were a hero to a lot of us wrestling fans we were kids and it was awesome seeing you get the respect you deserved after being out of the WWE scene for 18 years. The impact you left on the industry can never be duplicated, you helped create a character, a persona and you became The Ultimate Warrior; going as far as changing your legal name to Warrior. It’s crazy that you were just at Wrestlemania on April 6th being inducted into the Hall of Fame and then you gave one last segment on April 7th at Monday Night Raw. I get chills and get teary eyes every time I listened to it. It’s like you knew that you were about to die now that you finally made peace with WWE and brought back the respect that your career deserved. Here’s the Ultimate Warrior’s final words.

“No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own. Every man’s heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them bleed deeper and something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him and make the running the man did live forever.

"You, you, you, you, you, you are the legend makers of Ultimate Warrior. In the back I see many potential legends. Some of them with warrior spirits. And you will do the same for them. You will decide if they lived with the passion and intensity. So much so that you will tell your stories and you will make them legends, as well. I am Ultimate Warrior. You are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of Ultimate Warrior will run forever.”

Some people might think it’s silly to be sad over a childhood hero dying but it’s sad for me because it’s part of my childhood. I’m just glad he finally came to peace with a lot of the things that were haunting him. My prayers go out to his wife and two young daughters. The best thing about his Hall of Fame speech is that he let his daughters know that being their father was the greatest job he’s ever had. Sad to see him go. RIP Warrior.

This is (one reason) why I love the internet.

Oh, god. I’m sobbing. This is one of the most beautiful things.

Similar thing happened to our family 35+ years ago. Another happy ending, too, but without the interwebs.

I’m not okay. I’m really… Really not okay.

Welcome to my world,
Where everyone I ever need
Always ends up leaving me alone.
Another lesson burned,
And I’m drowning in the ashes,
Kicking.
Screaming.
Welcome to my world.

I feel this song. Definitely hits home for me.

"Lost In The Echo" Linkin Park

(yeah) (yo)
You were that foundation
Never gonna be another one, no.
I followed, so taken
So conditioned I could never let go
Then sorrow, then sickness
Then the shock when you flip it on me
So hollow, so vicious
So afraid I couldn’t let myself see
That I could never be held
Back or up no, I’ll hold myself
Check the rep, yep you know mine well
Forget the rest let them know my hell
There and back yet my soul ain’t sell
Kept respect up,the best they fell,
Let the rest be the tale they tell
That I was there saying…

[Chorus]
[Chester:]
And these promises broken
Deep below
Each word gets lost in the echo
So one last lie I can see through
This time I finally let you
Go, go, go.

Test my will, test my heart
Let me tell you how the odds gonna stack up
Y’all go hard, I go smart
How’s that working out for y’all in the back, huh?
I’ve seen that frustration
Been crossed and lost and told “No”
And I’ve come back unshaken
Let down and lived and let go
So you can let it be known
I don’t hold back, I hold my own
I can’t be mapped, I can’t be cloned
I can’t C-flat, it ain’t my tone
I can’t fall back, I came too far
Hold myself up and love my scars
Let the bells ring wherever they are
‘Cause I was there saying…

[Chorus]
[Chester:]
And these promises broken
Deep below
Each word gets lost in the echo
So one last lie I can see through
This time I finally let you go!!!
Go, go, go.

No, you can tell ‘em all now
I don’t back up, I don’t back down
I don’t fold up, and I don’t bow
I don’t roll over, don’t know how
I don’t care where the enemies are
Can’t be stopped, all I know; go hard
Won’t forget how I got this far
For every time saying…

[Chorus]
[Chester:]
And these promises broken
Deep below
Each word gets lost in the echo
So one last lie I can see through
This time I finally let you
Go, go, go. (Go, go, go)
Go. go, go. (Go, go, go)
